What
will this program do for me?
The motorcycle technician program will enable the aficionado and
those seeking employment to acquire the theoretical and “hands-on” skills
necessary to work on all types of motorcycles. No matter what type of
motorcycle, this program prepares individuals in a comprehensive study of
all pertinent systems and functions. All important in a technician
training program is the opportunity to experience many types of conditions
and actual repair/maintenance strategies. Having your own motorcycle is
encouraged but by no means required. What is required though, is a
recognition of the passion and love of motorcycles.
For those
whose interests lie in the more artistic exotic rarified atmosphere of
custom bikes, the custom motorcycle certificate/degree is for you. In this
field learners bring their artistic talents to learning metal work,
design, custom painting and many more facets of building a unique and “one
off” machine, or may focus in one particular area to develop greater
mastery. A degree is offered in both the Technician and Custom programs.
What
kind of job can I get once I complete the program?
It
is possible to find work in motorcycle dealerships and independent
shops. For those of entrepreneurial nature, you can start your
business. The San Francisco Bay Area is renowned for its large
motorcycle aficionado enthusiast community and this community is
entering our programs for careers and or personal development.
How
much can I earn in this career?
The range of salary for motorcycle technicians depending on skill
levels and previous work experience is averaging $30-$60,000+ per
year.
How
long will the program take?
The
two certificates, Technician and Custom, are two year degree programs.
